Corporation Tax Act 2009 section 808C

Assets representing expenditure incurred in course of separate theatrical trade

Section 808C excludes certain intangible fixed assets held by theatrical production companies from the general intangible fixed assets rules in Part 8 of the Corporation Tax Act 2009.

  • Part 8 of the Corporation Tax Act 2009 contains the general rules for how companies account for intangible fixed assets for corporation tax purposes.
  • This section provides a specific exclusion for theatrical production companies from those general rules.
  • The exclusion applies to any intangible fixed asset that is treated as expenditure on a trade under the separate theatrical productions tax relief regime in Part 15C.
  • This ensures that such expenditure is dealt with under the dedicated theatrical tax relief rules rather than the general intangible assets rules.
