Charge to tax on overseas property income

Section 357 establishes the charge to income tax on income from property located outside the United Kingdom.

  • Income from overseas property is subject to UK income tax.
  • This applies to rental and other income arising from land and buildings situated outside the UK.
  • The charge replaces the former Schedule D Case V rules under the Income and Corporation Taxes Act 1988.
  • The section was amended by the Finance Act 2008 to reflect updates in the legislative framework.
