CSOP schemes

Schedule 4 paragraph 2 defines what a CSOP scheme is and sets out the key terms used throughout the CSOP code.

  • A CSOP scheme is a share option scheme established by a company that grants options to employees and directors, and is distinct from an SAYE option scheme
  • A participant is someone who has been granted share options under the scheme but has not yet exercised them
  • To participate means to both obtain and exercise share options under the scheme
  • The scheme organiser is the company that established the scheme
