Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (Scotland) Act 2013 section 57

Linked transactions

Section 57 explains what linked transactions are and how they may be reported for LBTT purposes.

  • Transactions are linked if they form part of a single scheme, arrangement or series of transactions between the same (or connected) seller and buyer.
  • Where two or more linked transactions share the same effective date, the buyer(s) may submit a single LBTT return treating all the notifiable transactions as one notifiable transaction.
  • Where multiple buyers submit a single return for linked transactions, they are treated as joint buyers of a single transaction.
  • These rules are subject to the special provisions on exchanges set out in section 13.
