Landfill Disposals Tax Communities Scheme

Section 92 requires the Welsh Ministers to establish a grant scheme to benefit communities in Wales affected by landfill disposal activities.

• The Welsh Ministers must prepare and publish a Landfill Disposals Tax Communities Scheme before the Act comes fully into force.
• The scheme provides grants to persons carrying out activities that promote or improve the social or environmental well-being of areas affected by landfill disposals or preparatory landfill activities.
• Grants may be allocated according to criteria set out in the scheme and may be subject to conditions specified in the scheme or by the Welsh Ministers.
• The scheme must be reviewed at least every four years, with consultation, and may be revised or revoked following a review — but not revoked within the first four years.
