Corporation Tax Act 2010 section 269ZE

Restriction on deductions from total profits: insurance companies

Section 269ZE previously set out special rules restricting how insurance companies could use carried-forward losses to reduce their total profits, but this section has been removed from the legislation.

  • Section 269ZE originally provided specific rules for insurance companies regarding the restriction on deducting carried-forward losses from total profits.
  • The section was introduced by the Finance (No. 2) Act 2017 as part of the broader corporate loss restriction regime.
  • The section was subsequently removed (omitted) by Finance Act 2019, section 27 and Schedule 10, paragraph 6(7).
  • The removal takes effect for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 April 2017, meaning this section no longer applies to any current periods.
