Delegation of powers to the Regulator of Social Housing

Section 654 allows the Secretary of State to delegate approval functions relating to self-build societies to the Regulator of Social Housing for societies registered in England.

  • The Secretary of State may delegate powers under section 653 (approval of self-build societies) to the Regulator of Social Housing
  • Delegation applies only where the society's registered office under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 is in England
  • The delegation can be to any extent the Secretary of State specifies
  • The Secretary of State may attach any conditions to the delegation
