Corporation Tax Act 2010 section 357R

Introduction and interpretation

Section 357R introduces the rules governing how film tax relief under Part 15 of CTA 2009 applies to expenditure incurred by a Northern Ireland company.

  • Chapter 11 sets out how the film tax relief regime applies specifically to companies operating as Northern Ireland companies during an accounting period.
  • Key terms are defined, including "Northern Ireland expenditure" (trade expenses forming part of Northern Ireland profits or losses), "the separate film trade" and "qualifying expenditure", which take their meanings from the CTA 2009 provisions on film tax relief.
  • Any reference in Part 15 of CTA 2009 to "film tax relief" is to be read as including the relief available under this Northern Ireland chapter.
  • These provisions ensure that Northern Ireland companies can access film tax relief on their qualifying expenditure through a framework tailored to the Northern Ireland tax regime.
