Corporation Tax Act 2010 section 357TG

Use of losses in later periods

Section 357TG explains how losses from a separate video game trade are to be interpreted for Northern Ireland companies when those losses are carried forward and used in later periods.

  • Where a company is a Northern Ireland company, a loss in the separate video game trade is split into Northern Ireland losses and mainstream losses for the relevant period.
  • References to losses in the CTA 2009 provisions on using losses in later periods must be read in line with this Northern Ireland/mainstream split.
  • The same split applies to losses arising in any later period in which the company remains a Northern Ireland company.
  • For Northern Ireland losses, the calculation includes both additional deductions under the video games development relief rules and any Northern Ireland supplementary deduction available under the Northern Ireland regime.
