Taxes Management Act 1970 section 11

Return of profits

Section 11 dealt with the requirement for companies and other bodies to submit returns of their profits to HMRC, but has been repealed and replaced by later legislation.

  • Section 11 originally required companies and certain other organisations to deliver returns of their profits when issued with a notice by HMRC.
  • The section was part of the framework for company tax returns under the Taxes Management Act 1970.
  • The provision was repealed by the Finance Act 1998, which introduced a modernised company tax return system under Schedule 18 to that Act.
  • The repeal took effect from 1 July 1999, following the Finance Act 1994, Section 199, (Appointed Day) Order 1998 (SI 3173/1998).
