Transitional provisions and savings

Section 62 deals with the powers to make transitional provisions and savings orders in connection with the commencement of the Tax Credits Act 2002.

  • The Secretary of State may make transitional orders for England, Wales and Scotland relating to the abolition of certain benefit increases referred to in section 1(3)(e).
  • The Northern Ireland Department has the equivalent power to make transitional orders for Northern Ireland in respect of the same abolished benefit increases.
  • The Treasury has a broader power to make transitional provisions or savings in connection with the commencement of any provision of the Act.
  • The Treasury's power is subject to any orders already made by the Secretary of State or the Northern Ireland Department regarding the abolished benefit increases.
