Financial provision

Section 68 sets out how the costs of the tax credits system are funded by Parliament and how any money received by government under the Act is to be handled.

  • All government expenditure arising under the Tax Credits Act 2002 is paid from money provided by Parliament.
  • Any additional costs under other legislation that arise because of this Act are also funded by Parliament.
  • Any sums received by a government department under this Act must be paid into the Consolidated Fund.
  • The exception is any amounts that other legislation requires to be paid into the National Insurance Fund instead.
