Capital Allowances Act 2001 Schedule 4

Repeals

Schedule 4 lists the provisions in earlier legislation that are repealed as a consequence of the consolidation of capital allowances law into the Capital Allowances Act 2001.

  • The entire Capital Allowances Act 1990 is repealed, as its provisions have been rewritten and consolidated into the Capital Allowances Act 2001.
  • Numerous capital allowances provisions scattered across successive Finance Acts from 1982 to 2000 are repealed, as they have been incorporated into the new consolidated Act.
  • Consequential references to the Capital Allowances Act 1990 and related capital allowances provisions in other legislation โ€” including the Income and Corporation Taxes Act 1988, the Taxation of Chargeable Gains Act 1992, and various social security and transport statutes โ€” are removed.
  • The repeals are a tidying-up exercise and do not change the underlying tax law; they simply remove superseded provisions that have been re-enacted in the Capital Allowances Act 2001.
