Capital Allowances Act 2001 section 105

The writing-down period

Section 105 deals with how the writing-down period is calculated where allowances were made under both income tax and corporation tax rules during the transitional years 1964–65 and 1965–66.

  • Applies where Part 9 provides for writing-down allowances over a specified writing-down period
  • Relevant where allowances were previously granted under paragraph 27(2) of Schedule 14 to Finance Act 1965
  • Covers allowances made for income tax for 1964–65 or 1965–66 and for company accounting periods falling wholly or partly within those years
  • Periods for which allowances were made are added together in calculating the writing-down period, even if the same calendar time is counted twice
