Veterinary ambulances

Paragraph 9 of Schedule 2 provides that veterinary ambulances are exempt from vehicle excise duty, provided they meet specific conditions regarding their use and identification.

  • A veterinary ambulance is completely exempt from vehicle excise duty (road tax).
  • The vehicle must be used solely for transporting sick or injured animals to or from places where they receive veterinary treatment.
  • The vehicle must be clearly marked with the words "Veterinary Ambulance" on both sides.
  • Both conditions โ€” exclusive use for animal transport and proper markings โ€” must be met for the exemption to apply.
