Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 section 13

Schedule 2A, Paragraph 13 – Interpretation

Paragraph 13 of Schedule 2A provides definitions for key terms used throughout the Schedule relating to the immobilisation of untaxed vehicles.

  • An immobilisation device is defined by reference to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, being a device used to immobilise illegally parked vehicles (such as a wheel clamp).
  • An immobilisation notice is a notice physically fixed to a vehicle in line with the relevant regulations.
  • "Prescribed" simply means as set out in regulations made under this Schedule.
  • These definitions ensure consistent interpretation of the enforcement provisions elsewhere in the Schedule.
