Exemption for lifeboat haulage vehicles

Schedule 2 paragraph 11 provides a vehicle excise duty exemption for vehicles used solely for hauling lifeboats and carrying their associated equipment.

  • A vehicle used on a road exclusively for hauling a lifeboat is exempt from vehicle excise duty.
  • The exemption also covers the conveyance of the necessary gear belonging to the lifeboat being hauled.
  • The vehicle must not be used or kept on a road for any purpose other than lifeboat haulage and the carriage of its gear.
  • If the vehicle is used for any additional purpose beyond lifeboat haulage and gear transport, the exemption does not apply.
