Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 section 14

Trade licences: supplementary

Section 14 sets out supplementary rules for trade licences, including the ability to hold multiple licences, the right to request cancellation, and the process for reviewing a refused application.

  • A person entitled to hold a trade licence is not restricted to just one โ€” they may hold two or more trade licences at the same time.
  • The holder of a trade licence may ask the Secretary of State to cancel it at any time.
  • If an application for a trade licence is refused, the applicant may request a review of that decision within a prescribed time period.
  • On receiving a review request, the Secretary of State must carry out the review and consider any written representations made by the applicant during the prescribed period.
