Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 schedule 3 paragraph 17

The Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 (S.I. 1981/154 (N.I.1))

Schedule 3 paragraph 17 makes a consequential amendment to the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981, updating a cross-reference in that Order to refer to the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 instead of the older legislation it replaced.

• This paragraph updates Article 89(4) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 to reflect the consolidation of vehicle excise law.
• References to the Vehicles (Excise) Act (Northern Ireland) 1972 and the Vehicles (Excise) Act 1971 are replaced with a single reference to the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994.
• The original sub-paragraph (2) has been repealed by the Finance Act 1996 and is no longer in force.
• The amendment is purely a housekeeping measure and does not change any substantive rights or obligations.
