Continuity of law on substitution of repealed provisions

Schedule 4, Paragraph 1 confirms that replacing earlier legislation with this Act does not create any break in the continuity of the law.

• The Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 replaced and consolidated earlier vehicle excise and registration legislation
• The earlier legislation was formally repealed or revoked by this Act
• Despite the repeal and replacement, the law is treated as continuing without interruption
• This ensures that rights, obligations and proceedings under the old law carry forward seamlessly under the new Act
