Application to treat a goods vehicle as having a lower revenue weight

Schedule 1, Paragraph 13 allows the Secretary of State to make regulations enabling goods vehicle operators to apply for their vehicle to be treated as having a lower revenue weight for vehicle excise duty purposes.

• The Secretary of State may create regulations allowing goods vehicle owners to apply for a lower revenue weight classification
• If a valid application is made, the vehicle is treated for excise duty purposes as though its revenue weight is the lower weight specified in the application
• The regulations may set out prescribed conditions that must be met for the lower weight treatment to apply
• The Secretary of State may also impose additional conditions on a case-by-case basis beyond those set out in the regulations
